Lyon Canyon 2016 Sage Fire Photos

The Sage Fire (after Sagecrest Court, the road bordering the north end of the fire) started Saturday July 9, 2016, in Stevenson Ranch. It burned for about 3 days but wasn't 100% official contained until July 15th. I could not find the cause of the fire, but, more than likely, it was started by a human. Here are two stories from the Los Angeles Times of July 10 and July 11 of 2016.

These photos I took on July 17, 2016.

Near the mouth of the canyon looking west. I am going to start here, hike deep into the canyon, and come back.

Looking north towards the houses on Sagebrush Circle. The road is on the other side of the houses.

Looking again at the houses on Sagebrush Circle. The orange color below the houses is fire retardant. Obviously, the fire was really close to the houses.

The fences in the wide mouth area were part of a ranch that used to be here. The ranch was originally built and owned by Sanford Lyon, the source of the Lyon Canyon name.

Hiking west. Coming up on the drawbridge that was used in the Nothing But Trouble movie.

Hiking east. Coming to the drawbridge again on the return trip.

I will now end with a panoramic image of the canyon mouth area. View is towards the west.
